At Siebkens Park (06) the Elkhart Lake Racers were battered 6 to 1 in 10
innings by the streaking West Huron Whitecaps.

The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. West Huron came out the
victor in the 10th inning. The critical plate appearance was by Orlando
Cabrera who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he laced a
one-base hit bringing in two baserunners. West Huron banged out 12 hits on
the night.

The victory was credited to Trever Miller(1-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Jonathan Broxton(2-5) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1 inning
giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.

In a close game the West Huron Whitecaps got by the Elkhart Lake Racers by the
score of 5 to 3.

West Huron erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs
on 2 hits. Chone Figgins led off the inning for West Huron when he laced a
single. Figgins was safe at second on a stolen base. After an out was
recorded, David Ortiz stepped in and he drew a walk. Carlos Lee came up and
he lofted a three-run 'big-fly'. West Huron had a total of 8 hits for the
game.

Danys Baez(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Fernando Rodney
was credited with his 17th save. Jake Peavy(3-4) took the loss.

Miguel Olivo slammed 3 homeruns as the West Huron Whitecaps defeated the
Elkhart Lake Racers by the score of 8 to 2 at Siebkens Park (06).

Olivo had a great evening at the plate. He ripped a solo home run in the 3rd
inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the 4th inning and launched a
rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun in the 5th inning.
Overall West Huron out-hit Elkhart Lake 9 to 5.

Carlos Zambrano(9-5) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. A.J.
Burnett(5-7) took the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 4 and 2/3
innings of work.

'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Olivo said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'

In a close game the sizzling Homer Salty Dogs got by the reeling Saint Gabriel
Apostles by the score of 4 to 2.

Saint Gabriel never recovered after Homer took the lead in the 4th inning
scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. Rafael Soriano was great in
relief and recorded his 21st save.

Joe Blanton(5-8) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Johnny Cueto(3-9)
suffered the loss. Homer continued their winnings ways improving their
record to 43-47. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. Still in a bad

Right fielder Nick Markakis cracked a homer and had 2 RBI at GMJ Memorial (07)
where the Homer Salty Dogs beat the Saint Gabriel Apostles by the score of 5
to 0.

Homer jumped on top to stay in the top of the 2nd inning plating an isolated
run on 2 hits. Jorge Cantu delivered a base-hit. Kendry Morales was next
and he stroked a single. After another out, Markakis followed, but he was
set down on strikes. Brandon Phillips followed and he reached on an error.
That scoring would be all that was needed. Homer finished with 11 hits while
Saint Gabriel ended up with 5.

Jair Jurrjens(11-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Clayton Kershaw(4-6). He was the
victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
