APRIL nearing halfway point ...

With 23 series still outstanding in April, the season is shaping up to be very interesting indeed.

In the four-team Babe Ruth - Aaron, no team has more than 10 wins, and favorite Altenberg is a lowly 10-24. Could we see our first below .500 playoff team?

In the Babe Ruth - Williams, Fairfax is doing a great Ottawa impersonation playing 700 ball (800 at home) while the Elk Hair Caddis are making a claim at the wild card. RBC has posted some impressive early results.

In the BR - Mays, it looks like the QUI/BAY dog-fight is in full swing. If they beat each other up, look at San Juan to sneak up. The Sharks must play better than 300 at home if they have thoughts of contending.

In the Cy Young - Koufax, it is anyone's game. CDC/ILL have two critical series this month. Any type of lopsided result would make that team the front-runner. I see 85 wins taking the divison, especially with the early results.

In the Cy Young - Gibson, the Ottawa machine continues to gore its opponents into submission. OTT has already built a 12g lead on ELR and is still averaging nearly 7 runs a game. If that pace continues, it will shatter the DBA record for runs in a season and overuse every one of his starters :-).

In the Cy Young - Johnson, the Bombers are playing smart baseball, going 15-11 to lead. It will be interestin to see what happens to JSC under new ownership. The 'chasers had projected to 99 wins, but early returns say they miss the playoffs.
