Kevin Kouzmanoff launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Saint Gabriel
Apostles topped the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs by a score of 11 to 7 at Citizens
Bank (08).
Kouzmanoff was in a groove all evening. The Lehigh Valley fans hated to see
him approaching the batter's box. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 2nd
inning, banged out a single in the 4th inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly'
(his 9th of the season) in the 5th inning and slapped a one-base hit
resulting in a run in the 6th inning. Saint Gabriel kept the scorekeepers
busy in the 5th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 6 hits. Brian Fuentes
pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 8th save.
The win was credited to Randy Johnson(2-2) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing
7 runs. Paul Byrd(2-3) was given the loss. He surrendered 7 runs in 4 and
2/3 innings and saw his ERA increase from 5.25 to 6.59.
'I just got in the box, looked for a pitch and swung,' Kouzmanoff said.
'That's it'
