Apostles 4, Landsharks 3 (11)

Game 3 -- It was an exciting day at the ballpark as Saint Gabriel edged Normandy Lake, 4-3 in 11 exciting innings. In the top of the first, Cabrera missed a 1-12 HR split to double. He scored on a wild pitch and passed ball to make it 1-0 ILL. After a D Lee walk and C Lee single, another WP plated an Apostle run, 2-0. The Landsharks struck back in the bottom of the frame, with Dunn scoring Werth on a 2BX SI, 2-1. Not much offense until the sixth, when C Lee hit a BP SI, scoring HanRam making it 3-1 St Gabriel. NLL answered in the bottom. Miles singled (missing 1-3 TR), Drew hit a 1-12 DO and Werth walked to load the bases. After a Dunn K, Napoli hit a 2BX groundout, plating a run, 3-2. The threat ended with a Thames strikeout. In the seventh, Delmon singled and stole second. Ross SAC'd him to third. The Ichiro lofted a potential SACFLY, but Kotsay gunned down the run at home, keeping the score 3-2. In the bottom of the eighth, Werth lofted a BP HR off of Shields to tie it at 3. NLL had a chance to win it in the 10th, but Glaus missed a BP HR. The winning rally came in the top of the 11th. Cabrera singled, then Blanco singled pushing Cabera to third. In a momentary lapse of reason, Blanco tried to steal second, and was caught. C Lee slapped a grounder to the infield and Cabrera beat the 1-8 throw to home, 4-3 Apostles. The bottom of the frame was even more exciting. Fuentes was called in to save it and walked Werth to start. After a Dunn strikeout, Napoli walked to make it first and second. Thames then struck out. Jacobs (with a OBP of under 200 vs Fuentes) was left in and proceeded to roll a BP HR, but missed it with a 14.

One run was the difference at Sundrop Stadium (08) as the Saint Gabriel
Apostles defeated the Normandy Lake Landsharks in 11 innings 4 to 3.
 
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Saint Gabriel came out
the victor in the 11th inning.  Miguel Cabrera laced a single.  Gregor Blanco
was next and he banged out a single.  After an out was recorded, Derrek Lee
stepped in and he would hit into a fielders choice.  One out later, Chin-Lung
Hu was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Overall Saint Gabriel out-hit
Normandy Lake 10 to 7.  
 
The win went to Scot Shields(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 3 innings. Shields got
help from Brian Fuentes who was credited with his 2nd save.  Cla
Meredith(0-1) took the loss in relief.
