After a Butler BP SI and DLee walk, Meredith replaced Maholm and Ichy slapped a 1-15 SI to load the bases. Delmon, thinking grand slam this time, missed a 1-9 HR split and settled for a SACFLY. Glaus booted a Navarro grounder to make it 4-zip Apostles after six. HanRam singled, stole second, advanced on a ground out, then scored on a passed ball to make it 5-0 ILL after 6 1/2. Thames connected with a 2-R straight HR in the bottom to finish up the scoring at 5-2. The Landsharks did threaten in the 8th. After a Werth walk, Dunn connected on a 1-3 HR, rolling a 3, but Ichrio (freshly moved to RF) robbed it at the wall! Park relieved Unit and gave up a single to Napoli and walked Thames to load 'em up. Panicked, ILL brought in Fuentes one inning early and he struck out Jacobs to end the threat. The Saint Gabriel Apostles defeated the Normandy Lake Landsharks by a score of
5 to 2 at Sundrop Stadium (08).
Saint Gabriel jumped on top to stay in the 5th inning plating an isolated run
utilizing 2 base hits. Delmon Young smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his
1st of the season). After an out was recorded, Dioner Navarro came to the
plate and stroked a one-base hit. After another out, Hanley Ramirez was the
next batter, but he struck out. For the game Saint Gabriel out-hit Normandy
Lake 12 to 7.
The win was credited to Randy Johnson(1-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing
2 runs. Brian Fuentes gained credit for his 3rd save. Paul Maholm(0-1) took
the loss.
