The Elkhart Lake Racers edged the West Huron Whitecaps at Siebkens Park (06)
by the score of 6 to 5.
The Elkhart Lake fans enjoyed the offense provided by Lance Berkman. He
doubled which was good for two runs in the 6th inning and popped a two-run
clout over the fence (his 10th of the season) in the 8th inning. Elkhart
Lake won despite being out-hit by West Huron 12 hits to 7.
The win was credited to Chris Sampson(2-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. Russ Springer(1-2) was hit with the loss in relief. He was not very
effective, surrendering 3 runs in 2 innings.

In a tight game it was the Elkhart Lake Racers 4, the West Huron Whitecaps 2
at Siebkens Park (06).
Elkhart Lake brought 2 runs across the plate in the 6th inning with the help
of 3 hits. After an out was recorded, J.D. Drew began the Elkhart Lake spurt
when he cracked a solo homerun (his 9th of the season). Orlando Cabrera was
next and he doubled. A.J. Pierzynski then lined a one-base hit. Greg Dobbs
followed and he grounded into a double play. Elkhart Lake out-hit West Huron
for the game, 9 hits to 6.
Glen Perkins(3-1) allowed 2 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory.
Perkins was helped out by Mariano Rivera who recorded his 14th save. Justin
Verlander(9-7) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 2
walks in 6 innings.

The score was tied at 3 after nine. Ottawa came out the victor in the 10th

stepped in and he laced a base-knock. Bourn was safe at second on a stolen

run (his 17th of the season) in the 8th inning. Ottawa had 10 hits for the
night.
The victory went to Micah Owings(2-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Taylor Buchholz recorded his 11th save. The loss was charged to Russ
Springer(0-1) in relief.
