Edinson Volquez whiffed 10 batters at Ganzee Stadium (02) where the Burmese
Blood Monkeys beat the floundering Cleveland Buckeyes 13 to 6.
Volquez(9-8) earned his pay with a solid performance for Burmese. He allowed
7 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Despite scoring in 5 separate
innings, Cleveland could not get the win.
Jarrod Washburn(2-5) ended up with the loss. Everyone seemed to enjoy the
performance of Volquez - except Cleveland. Kevin Daberkow lamented, 'He just
was 'on' this afternoon. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A
fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown
fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
