Auction History ... The Numbers

As everyone is patiently awaiting their SOM v14 game, here are some interesting tid-bits of auctions past.

In 2005, there were 10 players that got 9M CAP: three players got over 50M total contract.  In 2006, there were six players that got 9M CAP: three players got over 50M total contract.  In 2007, there were five players that got 9M CAP: only two players got over 50M total contract.  In 2008, there were 14 players that got 9M CAP: seven players got over 50M total contract.

So far, in 2009, there has not been a single player get 9M CAP (counting only FrRFA).  However, five players have received over 50M for their services.  The bidding process threw out some crazy numbers already in this off-season.  The only FrRFA to receive 50M+ was Miguel Cabrera at 64M, and he didn't get any actual bids.

But, if we look at how the bidding process went down, we have some pretty crazy stuff.  How will it affect the Auction on Feb 28th?  I know it took over a half billion TREAS dollars off the board, as well as 30+ players.  Let's take a look at what happened ...

The biggest multi-year deal goes to Matt Garza.  CDC bid 62M for two years of service.  That's 31M per season.  Tulo checks in next with a 60M bid for seven years from ELR.  Greinke got 54M for four years from HSD and Wainer got 51M for three years from WHW.

Remember, all of this bidding was for the existing contracts, so players with really good contracts, like Garza, received some pretty heavy bidding.  Some of other 10M men were ...

Teixera, 1/37, OTT
Saunders, 1/27, CDC
Glaus, 1/26, NLL
Delgado, 1/19, DEN
Jenks, 1/19, YDL/BWC
Capps, 1/18, YDL/BWC
W Rodriquez, 1/14, FFF
Del Young, 3/37, ILL
Baker, 3/33, FFF
Miles, 1/11, NLL
Phillips, 2/21, HSD

As you can see, that's quite a long list of 10M men.  Since the CAP figures aren't anything like the actual bids, I think we will still see 2-5 players make 10M CAP in the auction.

Jose Reyes, SS, should have the highest TREAS spent at the Auction.  Since CLE has matching rights, I can see this possibly dipping below 10M CAP.  Something like a 8/80 isn't out of the question here.

Cliff Lee, SP, should have the highest CAP at the Auction.  FFF has matching rights but I don't see him matching the 4/45 deal that Lee is likely to see.

Manny Ramirez, LF, is an interesting case.  As of this writing, he is still unsigned in the MLB.  I don't think it stays that way, but it will throw some uncertainty into bidding.  I'm guessing a 2/26 type deal is in the mix.  OTT matches that at 3/26.

Kerry Wood, RP, could see a contract like the one he received in MLB, 2/20.  BBM matches that at 3/20 hopes Wood doesn't turn into BJ Ryan before the contract expires.

Ryan Dempster, SP, could be the next Brad Radke of the DBA getting a 5/50 deal for no apparent reason at all.  He should have a great card this year, but I don't see him maintaining this level of dominance in the future.  If he doesn't get 3/27, I'll be shocked.

Nate Mclouth, OF, should be the darling of the Auction.  He's just entering the prime of his career, had a monster break-out season in MLB and signed a sweet RL deal to boot.  10M isn't out of the question here, especially with his 1 defense.  I think he falls a bit shy, inking a 5/45 deal.

As always, there will surprises, like Brad Ausmus getting a 2/18 in 2006, or Benji Molina getting a 3/21 in 2005.  Also, the aforementioned Brad Radke deal of 5/50 was a surprise.  Scarcity does some crazy things!

Organizational Values

I have recently added the total contract values to the rosters on the AutoDraft site.  That's not the CAP for this year, its the total "sunk cost" for each player.  Its just a reference to see how much a team has paid for a player's current and future services.  The original 16 teams started with 400M value.  When we expanded to 20, those expansion teams basically "took" 80M from each team, reducing the average value to 320M.  After contraction this year, organizations absorbed those two teams, thus value increased to around 355M.  Value increases/decreases with trades.  Value decreases with buyouts and waives.  Value increases with bonus monies (playoffs, awards, etc).

Here's a breakdown as of today, 2/17/09 ...

TEAM .. ORG VAL .. CONTRACT VALUES

FrRFA Process ...

It was an interesting week of FrRFA bidding.  For the first time, we allowed multiple FrRFA from each team and also allowed 2yr deals.  We had 17 FrRFA, not many more than average.  However, we had 7 get no bids.

We will revisit the FrRFA process for next year.  I'm not sure if it was the Nov/Dec bidding process or just the new way of bidding this year in general that limited the activity of the FrRFA Auction.  We will also look at the time we take for the Auction on Feb 28th.  If it is quite a bit shorter than average, we will add the FrRFA process back into the day.

I think the new process added some more excitement to your February.  Now with under two weeks left, we prepare for the auction full-time.

FrRFA's from 2/12-13

2/12/2009 17:46:55 : Bloomington offered $21,000,000
2/12/2009 16:46:41 : Denver offered $20,000,000
2/10/2009 18:58:59 : Altenberg offered $19,000,000
2/3/2009 20:45:56 : Bloomington offered $18,000,000
2/3/2009 08:51:56 : Ottawa offered $17,000,000

Fairfax takes the 8M RFA fee and doesn't match Justin Duchscherer.  That bodes well for BSK, as they were looking for some top-quality pitching and got one of the top 3 cards available.  Four years for a 31 yr old with a shaky track record might be risky, but Justin gives an immediate +2 wins for Bloomington.  If the Sun Kings aren't in contention in August, Duchscherer might be the center of many trade talks.

2/12/2009 10:37:20 : Lehigh Valley offered $16,000,000
2/7/2009 19:03:01 : Lehigh Valley offered $14,000,000
2/7/2009 11:01:23 : Denver offered $13,000,000
2/4/2009 10:41:51 : Lehigh Valley offered $12,000,000
2/3/2009 15:00:41 : Lehigh Valley offered $12

Fairfax takes the 6M and lets Garrett Atkins sign with LVP.  The Iron Pigs, with no 3B on the roster, welcome Atkins to the fold with open arms.  Garrett will provide middle of the order pop against lefties, but Lehigh Valley might still be looking at options vs RHP.

2/4/2009 11:10:32 : Carbondale offered $10,000,000

An invalid bid by CDC makes Huston Street (BSK) the first FrRFA off of the board on Saturday, Feb 28th.

2/3/2009 17:07:50 : Carbondale offered $10,000,000

An invalid bid by CDC makes Francisco Cordero (DEN) the second FrRFA off of the board on Saturday, Feb 28th.  These two players will go 1-2, then open bidding on the RFA's.  After a break, we will finish up with the free agents.  With fewer roster spots to fill this year, look for it to be a fairly quick auction.

2/13/2009 13:18:25 : Fairfax offered $5,000,000
2/4/2009 10:25:28 : Saint Gabriel offered $4,000,000

Chris Coste isn't matched by ILL (+4M) and FFF gets its first catcher.  Decent bat against LHP, the Fighting Falcon need at least one more catcher in the auction.

2/4/2009 10:24:45 : Saint Gabriel offered $4,000,000

Jose Lopez steps back into the FT 2B role for the Apostles.  Signed with the RFA fee from Coste, Lopez will provide league average secondbase while giving ILL a few more dollars to look for SP.

2/4/2009 17:48:17 : West Huron offered $4,000,000 Robinson Tejada (WHW)
2/4/2009 17:48:03 : West Huron offered $4,000,000 Russ Springer (WHW)
2/4/2009 17:47:46 : West Huron offered $4,000,000 Javier Lopez (WHW)

2/13/2009 11:53:57 : Denver offered $8,000,000
2/12/2009 22:45:16 : Lehigh Valley offered $7,000,000
2/4/2009 10:57:25 : Denver offered $6,000,000

WHW matches Frank Francisco and resigns three more bullpen pieces.  In the process, expected win totals jump by 7, as the Whitecaps now have one of the better bullpens in the DBA.  Still not enough to contend with the heavy-hitters of the Koufax, but plenty to reek some havoc across the other three divisions.  Some well placed bids and this team is one-two years from the upper half.

2/9/2009 05:53:28 : Ridgecrest offered $5,000,000
2/4/2009 10:20:21 : Ottawa offered $4,000,000

OTT matches Mr Verstile, Jerry Hairston.  This one-year wonder was too expensive to take away, and too good of a value not to match.  Hairston fills in almost anywhere and makes the OTT bench one of the best in the DBA.

All BP ratings were at 1-10.  And, if I had any TREASURY monies this year, you probably wouldn't be seeing

this list :-).

FrRFA's from 2/11

2/11/2009 17:19:20 : Altenberg offered $29,000,000 + $10,000,000 RFA fee
2/10/2009 19:51:32 : Lehigh Valley offered $28,000,000
2/10/2009 18:59:54 : Altenberg offered $27,000,000
2/10/2009 18:46:22 : Lehigh Valley offered $26,000,000
2/4/2009 10:43:30 : Lebanon offered $25,000,000

LEB cashes in on another player, this time its SP Chris Young.  Another 10M in the TREAS makes the Holliday resigning just 15M!  Young will take 18 starts away from Kyle Lohse (always a good thing!) and add on another win to the Aces total.  However, everything is not all rosey with this signing, as Young's injury history will loom large over the 5-yr life of the deal.  If ALT gets another 700 IP over the next 4 years, he's a steal.

2/11/2009 19:59:39 : Brighton offered $40,000,000 (RID match)
2/11/2009 19:33:41 : Bloomington offered $36,000,000
2/7/2009 20:07:57 : Brighton offered $35,000,000
2/3/2009 08:49:01 : Ottawa offered $30,000,000

BRW loses out on another FrRFA!  Welcome to the league, Tyke :-).  Harden returns to the Rattlers at below-market for this year, but his injury history might catch up to him as well.  He replaces most of Brett Myers' starts in the rotation, plus a few of Looper's as well.  A huge upgrade for RID, gaining +3 wins.  This puts Harden (27), Lester (25) and Pelfrey (25) at the top of this rotation.

HairstonJ is a FrRFA, so he will be on a team before the auction.

These rankings reflect my own crazy formula, tweaked yearly, that calculates the offensive and defensive value of a player's card and assigns a number to it.  I like good steal ratings and good running ratings.  All BP ratings were at 1-10.  And, if I had any TREASURY monies this year, you probably wouldn't be seeing this list :-).

Updated Projected Standings ...

After two days of Auctions, I've done some tweaking of my ratings and win totals.  Basically, I've adjusted the pitching totals to include league average innings necessary to fill in the staff, and removed used innings from pitchers that won't see more than the 25% minimum.  Hitting adjustments will be made soon.

Babe Ruth - Aaron
-------------------
Altenberg -- 90-72 (up 4)
Homer (WC) -- 89-73 (down 1)
Bloomington -- 73-89 (up 1)
Denver -- 72-90 (down 5)

ALT/HSD switch positons as ALT had excess starts that were removed and HSD needed about 100 ReIP.  This is still a two-team race, with the other two in the LOTTERY hunt.

Babe Ruth - Williams
---------------------
Fairfax -- 89-73 (down 8)
Rio Brazos (WC) -- 89-73 (up 2)
Brighton -- 84-78 (same)
Burmese -- 70-92 (down 4)
Cleveland -- 65-97 (down 10)

FFF falls a bit as its pitching is great, but so are its needs (40 starts, 100 ReIP).  RBC has settled in with a high-quality nearly complete staff.  Brighton (Y-D) has holes of its own, and could challenge for the WC with the right moves.  BBM and CLE are nestled into the LOTTERY.

Cy Young - Koufax
-------------------
Elkhart Lake -- 96-66 (up 1)
Ottawa (WC) -- 94-68 (up 6)
Ridgecrest -- 76-86 (up 4)
West Huron -- 62-100 (down 4)

ELR has a full quality team and it shows in the standings.  OTT makes a huge move based on his pitching depth and quality.  WHW slips deeper into LOTTERY territory.

Cy Young - Gibson
-------------------
Lehigh Valley -- 92-70 (up 2)
Saint Gabriel -- 88-74 (down 1)
Carbondale -- 88-74 (up 13!)
Normandy Lake -- 75-87 (down 1)
Lebanon -- 68-98 (up 4)

LVP improves by two with the addition of Nathan in the pen.  But, CDC is the big mover, picking up 13 wins on the back of Chipper Jones and the removal of low-quality SP from the pitching side.  ILL slips out of the playoffs and LEB improves with the retention of Holliday.

FrRFA's from 2/10

2/8/2009 17:55:32 : Lehigh Valley offered $37,000,000 + $10,000,000 RFA fee
2/8/2009 15:12:18 : Rio Brazos offered $36,000,000
2/5/2009 11:34:56 : Lehigh Valley offered $33,000,000
2/4/2009 19:39:41 : Rio Brazos offered $32,000,000
2/3/2009 17:09:14 : Lehigh Valley offered $30,000,000
2/3/2009 17:08:20 : Lehigh Valley offered $29,000,000
2/3/2009 17:06:42 : Carbondale offered $28,000,000

LEB says good-bye to its closer and hello to 10M!  The 34 yr old Nathan will move into the set-up role for playoff-bound LVP.  The Iron Pigs are rolling in the mud right now, but may not be so happy when Nathan's contract hits year 5.  Joe sports 8.6 OB / 13.9 TB vs lefties and 6.4 OB / 11.7 TB vs righties. Expect Nathan to blow a few saves at home, as 6 diamonds don't match up well with 1-18 HR.

2/10/2009 18:18:05 : Brighton offered $35,000,000 (LEB matches)
2/8/2009 19:09:18 : Fairfax offered $33,000,000
2/7/2009 11:01:47 : Denver offered $32,000,000
2/6/2009 19:45:43 : Fairfax offered $31,000,000
2/4/2009 10:48:25 : Denver offered $29,000,000
2/3/2009 08:52:22 : Ottawa offered $27,000,000

The bidding wasn't aggressive enough to pry Holliday from LEB.  At 41M, maybe.  But a power-hitting 29 yr old OF that doesn't make 8M per year is a STEAL!  Matt returns to LEB's OF and pushes Francisco into a possible DH platoon with Garko.  The 'Nuts are just a shade behind ILL for third in the division offensively.

FrRFA's from 2/9 ...

The first set of auctions are complete.

2/4/2009 10:25:01 : Saint Gabriel offered $64,000,000

ILL keeps the services of Miguel Cabrera as no one wanted to put 81M into a player with an above average offensive card and a horrible defensive one :-).  If Miguel stays healthy, this could be a steal at 8M.  That defense will need to move back to a 4 in order to get much PT at anything other than DH.  Look for Cabrera to platoon with Carlos at DH, and some spot starts at the corner IF positions.

2/4/2009 11:08:50 : Carbondale offered $37,000,000 + $12,000,000 RFA fee

CDC steals one of the best offensive cards in the game from WHW (no match).  WHW was happy to take the 12M fee and walk away, since a 36 yr old isn't really rebuilding material, but 12M is.  Chipper will take over at 3b and turn the CDC offense into a Top 5 force, just behind ELR and LVP in the CY.  Good signing for the Dog Catchers this year.  Will Chipper hold up throughout the contract?

An Answer to many questions

In my 22 years of playing strat I have endeavoured to make the fairest trade offer or trade that i can possibly make. In response to some questions i will try to answer them as honestly as possible. With the trade that is in question Francis and 7.2M from WHW to OTT for Placido Polanco.
3
things that i have that i didnt have is
1. lower cap meaning i can bid on position players that i need although they may not be good but at least ill be competitive
2. if i dont trade polanco an i keep him for 09 he is still one of the best 2b out there.
3. i keep crawford and only lose francis and 7.2 mil which in an earlier trade i used that $ to buy out silva who absolutely sucks.

i did think and do think about every trade that i make in this league. with that being said then did i make a bad trade no do i have bad trading skills no i dont.

as far as having polanco for 2010 probably not but by then there should be younger 2b that i can go after in the draft or auction. i may not get the value for him but i value what the future might bring if i have the 1st overall pick in the draft in 2010. i do set goals for myself and every team that i am a part of.

i have 3 other teams besides the whitecaps : the seawolves who this yr went worst to
first in the division that i am in only to lose in 7 in the 1st round of the playoffs, the navigators who were floundering in mediocrity for 12 yrs before i won my 1st division title, only to lose in 7 games in the 1st round of the playoffs to the eventual champ
and the hapless eagles who are begining just now to fly like they are supposed to.

the seawolves made a trade earlier in 2008 that kind of resembled this trade, i traded
D.Haren and a draft pick for M.Rivera and i got crucified in emails about that trade.
geez i won the division cuz i had mariano on the back end , in the end rivera saved 32 and i won 93 games had i not had him i can imagine what kind of record i would have had. He saved a third of my games this season.

Look i am here to win if i make a bad trade so be it, if i have bad trading skills so be it,
i am not the best trader or the worst trader, i am here to win some and lose some and have fun doing it. i pretty much have fun especially this time of the year since everyone talks trade and with the auction coming up it means i get to interact with everyone in the league.

well enough ranting and raving for now, and most of all if i have offended anyone in the league i am sorry. but this is the way i feel.

state of the whitecaps 2-7-09

The Whitecaps are in rebuilding phase with reacquiring P.Polanco the Caps have restrengthened
the defense up the middle. Also acquiring SP's Litsch,Kuroda and Reliever J.Smith have made a mediocre staff into a good staff. Also with Murphy, the veteran Floyd, along with the rookie
Darci Barton the Caps have started to go young and look toward the future.

The Caps have reduced the salary cap from a little over 100 mill to around 77 mil, to the management thats awesome. The caps have holes to fill and with a little luck we could improve
on that 66-96 that the commish has predicted for us ;). The pitching is suspect but with some improvement in the bullpen we could be better than 66 wins. But only time will tell, the offense
does need a lot of improvement and we will be searching and hopefully getting some position
players for the team. There are players available that can fit the bill but $ might be a problem
for the Caps.

The Caps management has committed to rebuilding and is looking for some good players and
having a championship caliber team.

If the Arizona Cardinals can do it so can the West Huron Whitecaps.

Pre-Auction Standings Predictions ...

Now that we have looked at both sides of the SOM coin, lets translate it into projected standings :-).  I have taken the rankings for hitting and pitching and put a WL figure to it.  Let's see what happens!

Babe Ruth - Aaron
-------------------
Homer -- 90-72
Altenberg -- 86-76
Denver -- 77-85
Bloomington -- 72-90

This should be a good race!  HSD and ALT will be fighting tooth and nail all year for the division title.  If they don't beat each other up in the process, the "loser" should be in the WC hunt as well.

Babe Ruth - Williams
---------------------
Fairfax -- 97-65
Rio Brazos (WC) -- 87-75
Y-D -- 84-78
Cleveland -- 75-87
Burmese -- 74-88

Looks like a three-tier division here.  Fairfax appears to be the clear favorite, while RBC and YDL will be fighting for #2 and quite possibly the wild card.

Cy Young - Koufax
-------------------
Elkhart Lake -- 95-67
Ottawa -- 88-74
Ridgecrest -- 72-90
West Huron -- 66-96

Elkhart is the team to beat in the Cy Young.  The roster is nearly complete and of very high quality.  Ottawa will be in the WC hunt and will threaten ELR all year.  I can see this division coming down to the wire.

Cy Young - Gibson
-------------------
Lehigh Valley -- 90-72
Saint Gabriel (WC) -- 89-73
Normandy Lake -- 76-86
Carbondale -- 75-87
Lebanon -- 64-98

Looks like another tight race for the Gibson.  However, LVP has CAP room and TREAS to spend; ILL doesn't.  A couple of nice FA pick-ups and the Iron Pigs could challenge the Racers for the "best in the CY" title.

We will see what the auction holds!

A Look at Pitchers Cards ...

Now we go to the other side of what makes a SOM team tick, the pitchers.  As with the hitters, I have broken each pitching staff into three pieces: rotation, relief and closer quality.  Rotation makes up 50% of the rating, relief 20% and closer 30%.  Some may not value a closer as highly as 30%, but I think it is justified here.  When you can make the game one inning shorter with a closer like Rivera or Soria, that's valuable.  To the rankings!

1. FFF (99 / BRW #1 / 50 - 19 - 30) : This is one killer staff!  One caveat, however.  The Fighting Falcon still need to add 40 GS and 100 ReIP to the staff, so I don't think the quality will continue to be this high.  But, no matter what the outcome, this will be the best staff in the DBA this year, hands down.

2. ILL (82 / CYG #1 / 48 - 16 - 18) : The sample size is even smaller here, but nearly as good in two areas (rotation and relief).  K-Rod is merely average in the closer role.  The Apostles need to pick up 60 GS and 100 ReIP at the auction and don't have much wiggle room to do it.  The quality will slip after the auction.

3. CLE (75 / BRW #2 / 40 - 8 - 27) : The Buckeyes need to find 100 GS at the auction, so this rating could fall as well.  The relief corps is full, but is the worst in the DBA.  Papelbon is lights out as the closer.

4. ELR (73 / CYK #1 / 31 - 12 - 30) :  This staff is full and will probably end up #2 after the auction.  All I can say here is Mariano Rivera.

5. HSD (72 / BRA #1 / 40 - 15 - 17) : The best staff in the Aaron just needs a few ReIP to fill up.  A slight upgrade at closer and a few extra millions on a pair of relievers will solidify the Salty Dawgs hold on the top.

6. OTT (70 / CYK #2 / 40 - 12 - 18) : The "Deepest Pen in the DBA" is full of really good relievers.  However, Wagner is only an average closer.

7. LVP (68 / CYG #2 / 36 - 9 - 23) : Small sample size in the pen (200 IP) dooms this staff.  Improvement there will mean the difference.

8. RBC (66 / BRW #3 / 44 - 12 - 10) : Needs a closer.
9. YDL (64 / BRW #4 / 39 - 17 - 8) : Needs a good closer.
10. BSK (62 / BRA #2 / 46 - 10 - 6) : Needs 80 high-dollar starts and better relief quality.
11. NLL (60 / CYG #3 / 43 - 13 - 4) : Needs a closer badly.
12. WHW (58 / CYK #3 / 36 - 12 - 10) :  Only 100 ReIP.
13. BBM (57 / BRW #5 / 35 - 10 - 12)
14. RID (56 / CYK #4 / 29 - 20 - 7)
15. ALT (54 / BRA #3 / 32 - 10 - 12)
16. DEN (51 / BRA #4 / 36 - 10 - 5)
17. CDC (50 / CYG #4 / 23 - 11 - 16)
18. LEB (39 / CYG #5 / 26 - 9 - 4)

This list will definitely shift after the auction.  The teams with the CAP and TREASURY will climb the list, the teams without will drop.  But this should give everyone a good idea of where each team stands.

A Look at Hitters Cards ...

Its time for me to start (psycho-) analyzing  each team in different ways.  With rosters frozen until the Auction, not much will change in the next three weeks.  And this might give some insight on who everyone is "going after" during this FrRFA bidding process.  First up, I will look at the hitter cards on each team.  My analysis has broken each team into three categories:  Lineup vs lefties, Lineup vs Righties and bench strength.  I weighted the lineup vs righties more heavily than the other two.  And I gave each team a POWER RANKING on a 1-100 scale.  To the list!

1. ELR (86 / CYK #1 / 19 - 56 - 11) : This team has some serious punch with Berkman, Dye, Drew and Beltran. LF looks the weakest but ELR has no room to make any pick-ups at the auction.  The bench depth is its real weak point.

2. ALT (86 / BRA #1 / 14 - 60 - 12) : Three 1's on defense and Bay, Gonzalez, Pedroia and Victorino lead the offense.  Best RH lineup in the league.

3. LVP (81 / CYG #1 / 13 - 57 - 11) : Looks like the offensive cream of the Gibson right now.  However, the Iron Pigs have huge holes at SS and 3b.  Not a single player on their current roster can fill in there!  Shelling out some bucks will solidify its offensive hold on the Gibson.

4. HSD (77 / BRA #2 / 20 - 44 - 13) : Best LH bashing lineup out there with Youk, Markakis, Phillips and Mora leading the way.  RH lineup is just slightly above average, as is the bench strength.  Letting Mora slog around at SS is actually better than Khalil Greene this year.

5. RBC (77 / BRW #1 / 16 - 45 - 16) : Solid LH linup and good bench flexibility put the Caddis at the top of the Williams.  Hunter, Ross, Giles, Rowand, Spillborghs and Hermida are nice OF options to have.

6. OTT (75 / CYK #2 / 13 - 42 - 20) : Best bench depth and flexibility in the DBA.  Furcal and Dickerson will provide crucial PA rest for the above average lineups.  Hitting-wise, looks like a lock for the CY WC.  Adding a few pieces OF/DH will threaten ELR for the offensive Koufax crown.

7. YDL (71 / BRW #2 / 10 - 43 - 18) : Knocking on the offensive playoff door for any owner that takes it over.  A few good pick-ups at the auction and this is a offensive wild card team.

8. DEN (69 / BRA #3 / 14 - 42 - 13) : Above average in all aspects, but in the same division as ALT and HSD.

9. CDC (67 / CYG #2 / 15 - 38 - 14) : Good bench flexibility.
10. ILL (66 / CYG #3 / 12 - 46 - 8) : Top 5 DBA RH lineup.
11. FFF (64 / BRW #3 / 12 - 36 - 16) : Great lineup flexibility.
12. LEB (58 / CYG #4 / 11 - 40 - 7)
13. NLL (58 / CYG #5 / 9 - 37 - 12)
14. BBM (57 / BRW #4 / 10 - 41 - 6)
15. RID (56 / CYK #3 / 15 - 36 - 5) : Top 5 DBA LH lineup.
16. BSK (49 / BRA #4 / 11 - 27 - 11)
17. WHW (43 / CYK #4 / 7 - 24 - 12)
18. CLE (42 / BRW #5 / 10 - 24 - 8)

After the auction, we will see some changes here.  Those teams willing to spend to upgrade their hitters will get a boost.  The ones with no CAP and/or TREAS will fall.  Efficient spending at the auction is the key.  I don't see any way the bottom three can become the top three, but three divisions could see a major shakeup at the top at the auction.
