Encyclopedia Updated ...

The Encyclopedia has been updated to include the 2008 season. The post-season records will be added at a later date, as will individual team encyclopedias.

Interesting facts you can find ...

Ichiro leads the DBA with 0.322 career batting average.
Helton leads the DBA with 379 doubles.
Bonds (336) and A-Rod (331) are only members of 300 HR Club.
Crawford is 9 SB shy of 400.
Four pitchers have 24 wins in a season, one has 24 losses.
The Big Unit pitched 280 innings in 2005, to lead the DBA.
Motor City (2001) is the only team to score over 1100 runs.
Five teams have hit 300+ HR in a season.
Delgado had 118 XBH in 2001!

Owner Page Up!

The Owner tab is now active. It has information about all of the DBA's owners, past and present. It also has lists of best seasons, best post-seasons and who won and lost each of the DBA World Series.

As I get time, there will be more detail to the "lists". I have come up with a ranking system for each, which will probably be tweaked as I delve deeper into some of the best seasons and owners in the DBA.

Now that I've updated the encyclopedia database, I'll begin work on some franchise histories, DBA Regular Season and Post Season Records, as well as a page with the DBA Timeline. As with any democratic process, we have had numerous changes in the past nine years.

If there is anything you'd like to see added or changed, just comment here, or put a post on the forum.

DBA Owner Page on the Way!!

As a preview of the information that will be on the newly created owners tab (due out by the end of block 2), I have included a few factoids about the current ownership in the DBA.

10 of the 13 owners that have been in the DBA more than this season have been to the playoffs!

• 700 wins – George (BBM) needs 30, Greg (LEB) needs 40 and Jamie (ILL) needs 53.
• 600 wins – Chris (OTT) needs 40 and John (CDC) needs 65.
• 500 wins – Keith (ALT) needs 12, or 112 for 600.
• 400 wins – Jeff (HSD) needs 58 and Jeff (WHW) needs 70.
• 300 wins – Chris (FFF) needs 46, Don (RBC) needs 69 and Jay (ELR) needs 89.
• 200 wins – Marc (RID) needs 49.
• Richard (DEN), Kevin (CLE), Tyke (BWC), Scott (LVP) and Barry (NLL) are playing their first DBA season.

After 32 games, there are problems ...

After 32 games, you can see from the stats above, the hitting is doing fine for the Apostles. In part-time action, Blanco is hitting .419 and Lind is hitting .362 to lead the team. We have five players with 13+ RBI and Han-Ram is on pace for 40 HR and 55 SB!

Now if you look at the stats below, you can see why we are 11-21!

hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Lehigh Valley out-hit Saint Gabriel
for the game, 14 hits to 8.

Matsuzaka got help from Ryan Madson who earned his 1st save. Clayton
Kershaw(0-4) was charged with the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 2

Kevin Kouzmanoff launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Saint Gabriel
Apostles topped the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs by a score of 11 to 7 at Citizens
Bank (08).

Kouzmanoff was in a groove all evening. The Lehigh Valley fans hated to see
him approaching the batter's box. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 2nd
inning, banged out a single in the 4th inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly'
(his 9th of the season) in the 5th inning and slapped a one-base hit
resulting in a run in the 6th inning. Saint Gabriel kept the scorekeepers
busy in the 5th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 6 hits. Brian Fuentes
pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 8th save.

The win was credited to Randy Johnson(2-2) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing
7 runs. Paul Byrd(2-3) was given the loss. He surrendered 7 runs in 4 and
2/3 innings and saw his ERA increase from 5.25 to 6.59.

'I just got in the box, looked for a pitch and swung,' Kouzmanoff said.
'That's it'

That was pretty much all we could hope for, and CDC still had 11 hits! Carbondale sweeps the 4g series.

The scoring started in the third, when Dukes hit a 1-15 SI followed by a wild pitch and a Pujols double. In the 5th, Pujols singled but Delmon threw it away trying to get the runner, 2-zip CDC. Saint Gabriel tied it up on a 2-R BP HR by Cabrera in the sixth.

Carbondale had a chance to win it in the eighth when Upton hit a flyball to Delmon Young with Vladdy on third. 1-10 to score, but DY nailed him at home.

However, in the 9th, Young singled to right (Lind's +1 instead of Ich's -5 because of a PH earlier). Byrd was waved around third at 1-17 to score and made it easily.

Nice shutout by Sonnanstine. Catchers jumped in front early and kept putting runners on base. Potent offense, lots of baserunners, lots of GBAs.

Elijah Dukes smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Jorge Campillo was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Saint
Gabriel Apostles were badly beaten by the Carbondale Dog Catchers, 14 to
2.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Dukes. He lofted a three-run bomb in the 5th inning and cracked
a solo homerun (his 2nd of the season) in the 7th inning. Carbondale bats
were very productive in the 2nd inning with 4 runs on 6 hits, the 5th inning
with 4 runs on 3 hits and the 7th inning with 4 runs on 5 hits. Carbondale
totaled 21 hits on the night.

The win went to Campillo(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Jamie Moyer(1-1)
was the loser. He allowed 13 hits and 7 walks in 6 innings.

Dog Catchers 7, Apostles 6 (11)

In a battle of young starting pitchers, a young catcher stole the show! Brian McCann homered twice and knocked in three as the Dog Catchers outlasted the Apostles, 7-6 in 11 innings.

A BP HR by Cabrera in the third gave the Saint Gabriel club an early 3-0 lead. CDC answered in the bottom with a Young bases-loaded SACFLY and a Chipper 1-8 SI, making it 3-2 ILL. Pujols missed a BP HR that might have put it out of reach early.

After a Ross BP HR (ILL) and a straight HR by Vladdy (CDC) made it 4-3, Kershaw got into a bases loaded jam in the 4th. Kershaw was gassed and ILL brought in lefty specialist Reyes to face McCann. McCann slapped a solid single, plating two Dog Catchers, giving CDC their first lead, 5-4. However, ILL answered in the sixth with a Kouz BP HR, then CF Dukes couldn't handle a Ross flyball to give the lead back to the Apostles, 6-5.

This was McCann's night, though. He tied the score in the bottom of the eighth with a 1-12 HR of his own. It stayed that way until the 11th, when Chipper doubled in Dukes to win it for the home team.
