Lottery ... after BLOCK 7

Here's what the LOTTERY is shaping up to be after BLOCK 7. Anything can happen with 36 games left and the random draw for the final order.

Saint Gabriel (48 wins) is fading fast. With four of final six series against contenders, look for ILL to win fewer than 71 for the first time in history.

Cleveland (48 wins) has the edge for the worst record in the DBA. Lack of bullpen depth plus issues with a few hitters will see this team flounder in its final 36. Winning more than 12 in the final month and a half would be a minor miracle.

Brighton (48 wins) has been up and down all season. With four of six series against contenders, the Wampus Cats could be spoilers or just lay down and purr. Look for something in between.

West Huron (51 wins) is nearing the end of a long year. Hitting droughts following by pitching implosions ended this team's playoff run before it really began. Now, it appears to be solidly in the LOTTERY hunt, and could still be a tough win for playoff hopefuls LEB, BSK and DEN.

Burmese (51 wins) went 4-20 in July to end its potential run at a winning season. With no real usage issues, this team could pull itself out of the LOTTERY very easily. 30-6 isn't in the cards, but 20-16 is a definite possibility. Playoff hopefuls will need to send their best to BBM down the stretch. And even that might not be enough.

Altenberg (56 wins) has been a disappointment ever since a 12-24 April. Now, this pre-season playoff team is hoping to end on a high note. With only one opponent with a winning record, it would be a surprise to see ALT still in the LOTTERY at the end of the season.

Geovany Soto cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at The Snake Pit (08) as the
Ridgecrest Rattlers beat the Normandy Lake Landsharks by the count of 5 to
3.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Soto. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 1st inning and
cracked a solo homerun (his 18th of the season) in the 8th inning. Normandy
Lake made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed
runs across.

Jon Lester(10-8) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Chad Qualls was
credited with his 22nd save. The losing pitcher was Ben Sheets(4-11). He
was touched for 10 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
