In a close game the sizzling Homer Salty Dogs got by the reeling Saint Gabriel
Apostles by the score of 4 to 2.

Saint Gabriel never recovered after Homer took the lead in the 4th inning
scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. Rafael Soriano was great in
relief and recorded his 21st save.

Joe Blanton(5-8) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Johnny Cueto(3-9)
suffered the loss. Homer continued their winnings ways improving their
record to 43-47. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. Still in a bad
slump, with this loss, Saint Gabriel is 2-8 lately and 28-62, worst in the
division on the year.

Right fielder Nick Markakis cracked a homer and had 2 RBI at GMJ Memorial (07)
where the Homer Salty Dogs beat the Saint Gabriel Apostles by the score of 5
to 0.

Homer jumped on top to stay in the top of the 2nd inning plating an isolated
run on 2 hits. Jorge Cantu delivered a base-hit. Kendry Morales was next
and he stroked a single. After another out, Markakis followed, but he was
set down on strikes. Brandon Phillips followed and he reached on an error.
That scoring would be all that was needed. Homer finished with 11 hits while
Saint Gabriel ended up with 5.

Jair Jurrjens(11-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Clayton Kershaw(4-6). He was the
victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.

Zack Greinke(11-6) delivered a fine performance for Homer. He allowed 6 hits

night.

In a thrilling finish the Altenberg Aces won in dramatic fashion coming back
to beat the Scarlett Letters by the count of 11 to 10.

Altenberg had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. Jason Bay began the Altenberg spurt when he
delivered a solo blast. Adrian Gonzalez stepped up next and he doubled.
Corey Hart was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Matt Tolbert
came up and he drew a walk. Jeff Baker followed, but he was set down on
strikes. Ryan Sweeney joined his teammates in the uprising and doubled. A
wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

The winning pitcher was Ron Mahay(1-1) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. J.P.
Howell(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in
1/3 of an inning.

'What a win!', Mahay said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in
your mind at the end of a season.'

Carbondale scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Carbondale and Burmese
each finished the afternoon with 8 hits. Matt Garza(8-8) picked up the
victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Brian Wilson got the save, his

41,616 fans watched an exciting game at Ganzee Stadium (02). The Carbondale
Dog Catchers topped the Burmese Blood Monkeys by the slimmest of margins, 6
to 5.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Carbondale won it in
the 11th inning. Chipper Jones hit a bases-empty home run. Two outs later
Brian McCann got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Carbondale
totaled 13 hits on the night.

Brian Wilson(4-2) allowed 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Guillermo Mota(2-2) was charged with the loss in relief.

Carbondale now has a record of 36-53. George Amrhein was unhappy with his
club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets
to be embarrassing after a while.'

Third baseman Michael Young cracked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI at Ganzee Stadium
(02) where the Carbondale Dog Catchers beat the Burmese Blood Monkeys by the
score of 11 to 3.

Young was in a groove all evening. The Burmese fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box. He ripped a base-knock scoring a run in the
2nd inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 3rd inning and
lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 7th inning. For the game Carbondale
out-hit Burmese 13 to 10.

The win was credited to Clayton Richard(4-9) who went 8 innings allowing 3
runs. Josh Beckett(10-6) took the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

With this win, Carbondale has a 35-53 record. They have been 5-5 lately.

In a two run game the West Huron Whitecaps got by the Oak Park Otters by the
score of 5 to 3.

West Huron erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning
with 2 runs. Carlos Lee got things going when he drew a walk. After an out
was recorded, Clint Barmes stepped up to the plate and he reached on an
error. Getz stole third and scored when the ball ended up in the outfield.
David Ortiz stepped in and he laced a base-hit. Ramon Hernandez came to the
plate and grounded into a double play. West Huron finished with 8 hits in
the victory.
