| Bay State salvages game three by the slimmest of margins, 5-4. The Black and Tan jumped on "Big Z" early, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after three. In the third, the Apostles threw out two runners at the plate! It could have been much worse. Saint Gabriel mounted a rally in the sixth on two singles sandwiched around a pair of doubles to make it 5-4 Bay State. That's the way it would end, as PH Joe Mauer lined into a DP with runners on first and third in the 9th. |

Roy Oswalt tossed a complete game at The Beer Garden as the Bay State Black
and Tan beat the Saint Gabriel Apostles by the count of 5 to 4.
Bay State promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 4 runners
on 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Todd Helton who thrilled the
crowd when he smashed a two-run homer (his 9th of the season). Saint Gabriel
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
The winning pitcher was Oswalt(8-6) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Carlos
Zambrano(5-4) was given the loss. He was knocked around by Bay State,
allowing 9 hits and 8 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Jamie Imhoff
said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
