David Ortiz jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the Cleveland
Buckeyes defeated the West Huron Whitecaps by a score of 7 to 4 at CLE
Ballpark (08).
Cleveland had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 3
runs using 3 hits. Casey Blake led off and he drew a walk. Gathright took
off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Steve Pearce then drew a
walk. Carlos Ruiz followed and he lined a single. Rajai Davis stepped into
the box and laid down a sacrifice bunt. One out later, Jose Reyes came up
and he hit a single. Kelly Johnson stepped into the batter's box and he
laced a single. Johnson took second on the throw. Josh Willingham then was
hit by a pitch. Cleveland had a total of 12 hits for the game.
The victory was credited to J.P. Howell(4-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Jonathan Papelbon earned his 13th save. The losing pitcher was Tim
Redding(2-10). He allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings.
