Jered Weaver* reeled off a total of 12 strikeouts and second baseman Jose
Lopez had 3 base hits as the Elkhart Lake Racers outscored the West Huron
Whitecaps 2 to 1.

Weaver*(1-0) had a strong outing. He surrendered only 8 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings. West Huron had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.

Jonathan Broxton recorded the save, his 1st. Justin Verlander(1-3) absorbed
the loss. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Weaver*
offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the
strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this
afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'

this getting a little ridiculous ...........
