state of the whitecaps 2-7-09

The Whitecaps are in rebuilding phase with reacquiring P.Polanco the Caps have restrengthened
the defense up the middle. Also acquiring SP's Litsch,Kuroda and Reliever J.Smith have made a mediocre staff into a good staff. Also with Murphy, the veteran Floyd, along with the rookie
Darci Barton the Caps have started to go young and look toward the future.

The Caps have reduced the salary cap from a little over 100 mill to around 77 mil, to the management thats awesome. The caps have holes to fill and with a little luck we could improve
on that 66-96 that the commish has predicted for us ;). The pitching is suspect but with some improvement in the bullpen we could be better than 66 wins. But only time will tell, the offense
does need a lot of improvement and we will be searching and hopefully getting some position
players for the team. There are players available that can fit the bill but $ might be a problem
for the Caps.

The Caps management has committed to rebuilding and is looking for some good players and
having a championship caliber team.

If the Arizona Cardinals can do it so can the West Huron Whitecaps.

I am also confused as to why you would re-acquire a 2009 FA when you are rebuilding, unless what you got far outweighed what you gave up.
