WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Marlon Byrd robbed Andrew McCutchen of a Homerun!
Left fielder Tony Gwynn Jr had 2 base hits at The Otterdome (09) as the Oak
Park Otters staged a comeback win over the San Antonio Alamos by the count of
7 to 6.
Oak Park bats came alive with a big bottom of the 9th inning as they ripped
San Antonio for 7 runs on 7 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Gregg
Zaun who made the crowd happy when he delivered a one-base hit bringing in
two baserunners. Both teams ended up with 9 hits on the night.
The victory was credited to Alfredo Aceves(3-2) who went 1 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. David Aardsma(0-2) took the loss in relief. He was unable
to retire a batter allowing 5 hits and no walks.
'What a win!', Aceves said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in
your mind at the end of a season.'
