At Citizens Bank (08), the Lehigh Valley faithful were treated to an
intriguing pitcher's duel. Justin Verlander(4-2) finally bested his Lehigh
Valley counterpart, Dan Haren(2-3), by the score of 2 to 1.
Verlander had a strong outing. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4
hits and 3 walks in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 2.43 to 2.20. After
the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.
Frank Francisco gained credit for his 1st save. Haren was given the loss. He
pitched 9 innings giving up 7 hits and 1 walk.
