Justin Verlander allowed Jeff Shaver to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and second baseman Placido Polanco had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Sundrop
Stadium (08) where the West Huron Whitecaps beat the Normandy Lake Landsharks
9 to 4.
 
West Huron erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning when they
scored 5 runs on 3 hits.  The highlight belonged to Clint Barmes who silenced
Sundrop Stadium (08) as he depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand
slam home run (his 5th of the season).  West Huron had a total of 10 hits for
the game.  
 
The victory was credited to Verlander(15-11) who went the distance, allowing 4
runs. Bronson Arroyo(6-18) was the loser.  He gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 8
and 2/3 innings.
