Second baseman Brian Roberts had 4 hits and scored 3 times as the Lehigh
Valley Iron Pigs won in dramatic fashion over the Lebanon Lugnuts by a score
of 7 to 6 at Auto Zone Stdm (06).
Lehigh Valley erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 3 runs
on 4 hits. Juan Pierre led off and started the rally when he hit a single.
Garrett Atkins next to the plate and he lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run (his 16th of the season). Roberts then doubled. Two outs later
Melky Cabrera came to the plate and laced a one-base hit. Cabrera took
second on the throw. Lyle Overbay came to the plate and was walked
intentionally. Felipe Lopez was the next batter, but he struck out. Joe
Nathan was great in relief and recorded his 30th save.
Pedro Feliciano(2-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. Dan Wheeler(3-6) was the loser in relief. Greg Smith was not very
talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in the mood for questions,
but I'm sure Scott Fritchman will be glad to talk about the game as long as
you have questions to ask.'
