The Fairfax Fighting Falcon offense put up 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 3rd
inning and nipped the Cleveland Buckeyes 7 to 6 at Falcon-Forbes (08) in a
hard fought contest.
Cleveland never recovered after Fairfax took the lead in the bottom of the 5th
inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided
by Cesar Izturis who electrified Falcon-Forbes (08) when he lashed a single
scoring two baserunners. Fairfax had a total of 12 hits for the game.
Wandy Rodriguez(10-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings
and allowing 6 runs. Rodriguez got relief help from Joakim Soria who gained
credit for his 41st save. Andy Pettitte(7-12) was the losing pitcher. He
got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
The Fairfax ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 85-65.
Cleveland has a record of 58-92 after the loss.
