Ryan Braun went deep and had 2 RBI at The Dam (04) where the Ottawa Beavers
beat the struggling Saint Gabriel Apostles by the score of 11 to 8.
Ottawa took the lead off Johnny Cueto in the first inning when they tallied 3
runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by Braun who excited the crowd
when he bombed a two-run dinger. Despite losing, Saint Gabriel out-hit
Ottawa 15 to 9.
Tyler Clippard(2-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Clippard
was helped out by Mariano Rivera who recorded his 18th save. Cueto(2-4) was
tagged with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 6 hits and 2 walks in
2 innings.
For Ottawa the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling in
their last ten games with a disappointing 1-9 record. Still in a bad slump,
with this loss, Saint Gabriel is 1-9 lately and 18-37, worst in the division
on the year.
