41,633 fans watched an exciting game at Launching Pad (08). The Denver
Strokers ended a long winless drought and topped the Saint Gabriel Apostles
by the slimmest of margins, 8 to 7.
The score was tied at 7 after nine. Finally, Denver pulled the game out in the
10th inning. After an out was recorded, Chase Utley laced a single. Utley
took his lead and swiped second. One out later, Jorge Posada came up and he
was walked intentionally. Adam Laroche followed and he stroked a base-hit
making Denver the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. This was
a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept
changing - 5 times in all.
Jose Valverde(2-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Matt
Capps(2-2) took the loss in relief. 'It's been a rough ride lately, but this
was a good win for us' said Richard Grossman, 'Maybe this will put us back on
track.'
